Without a doubt America was changed by Marilyn Monroe, and at a time in the country’s history when women were not treated as equals, she became the voice for millions of women. Marilyn Monroe is not only considered an American legend but a worldwide one. She had a depth to her that was overshadowed by her often called “bomb shell” appearance, but as the years passed and her success grew, the public and especially her fans began to hang on her simple words of wisdom meant to debunk women’ s expected roles in society.

It’s amazing and quite impressive that Marilyn Monroe’s words hold true today as much as they did 50 years ago. Monroe had a quick wit, a wonderful and kind sense of humor, and her emotional intelligence would regularly catch men off guard. She is and will always be a sex symbol and an inspiration to women everywhere.

There is much controversy today surrounding “sugar dating”, and the women who accommodate wealthy older men are looked down upon. But, if Marilyn Monroe was alive today she would definitely have something to say about this. Marilyn Monroe said, “If I’d observed all the rules, I’d never have got anywhere.”
