The Magnetic Mysterious Movie Star Marilyn Monroe
Filed under: Uncategorized |
There has yet to be any modern actress who can compare in beauty, magnetism or popularity to the American icon, the late Marilyn Monroe. Born Norma Jeane Mortenson, she went from living in foster homes as a child, to appearing in some of Hollywood’s biggest films of her time. Many would compare the beginnings of her career to the ultimate American dream.
Marilyn Monroe began her career as a young model. She landed her first movie deal in 1946. Her first movies she starred in were titled “The Asphalt Jungle,” and “All About Eve.” These movies, while lesser known than her more popular films, were well-received by critics everywhere. These films led up to the more popular films of hers, we all know and love, such as “Gentleman Prefer Blondes,” and “The Seven Year Itch.” She also graced the cover of the first issue of the new American men’s magazine, “Playboy.”
Hidden by her Hollywood persona, was a young, scared little girl. She also had some personal demons no one at the time had any knowledge of. This later led to a personal breakdown, and on August 5, 1962, Marilyn committed suicide at the young age of 36. She overdosed on a combination of sleeping pills and alcohol, leaving all wondering what could have prevented this tragic death of an American icon.
