The Life And Times Of Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn Monroe was considered to be as close to a goddess on earth as any woman who has ever lived. Her influence on fashion and film during her short life was nothing short of astounding and it’s unlikely any woman will ever top what Marilyn Monroe accomplished in such a short time.

What’s most fascinating about Marilyn Monroe was her rocky road to success. Orphaned to a foster home at a young age, a close brush with death at age two, nearly being raped at age six and working a kitchen at a church at age nine for a nickel a month, Marilyn never had it easy. The whole story can be found at http://www.popmatters.com/pm/review/144082-insignificance/ Her modeling career took off without much problem, but her acting career was a struggle for several years before she rose to fame. Marilyn Monroe starred in several ‘B’ movies and was content with smaller roles in films until she caught her her big break in 1953 when she starred in “Niagara” and “Gentleman prefer Blonds”. By 1955 she had become a household name and married baseball superstar Joe DiMaggio.

Her success was not long-lived, however, and she met her tragic end to a drug overdose at only the age of 36. Her career consisted of only 30 films, but she will be remembered forever as a brilliant actress and one of the most stunningly beautiful women to grace the silver screen.
